The 2018 DSM Eoulim Camp was held at Daejeon Youth Center for two nights and three days from December 5-7. Hosted by Daedeok Software Meister High School and operated by Blue Communication, the event is a software education camp designed to enhance creative thinking, cooperative problem-solving skills, computing thinking skills, and communication skills.
This camp provided education on six subjects, including robot control, self-driving cars, and physical computing makers. Among them, the robot control, self-driving car, and physical computing maker projects used educational programs and tools from AsomeIT, an educational brand of Blue Communication. For robot control, kids performed a mission to quickly and accurately pass through the maze by assembling and programming the bipedal robot, and for autonomous driving, they performed a mission to complete the virtual driving course by making its own AsomeCar and optimizing software and appearance. For physical computing, ideas were embodied with various sensors and Python codes using the AsomeKit.
In addition, in the IoT real-life creation project, kids created software technology for real-life application themselves, and in the Mechatronics defense project, military equipment was made and remotely controlled.
After the results of the project were exhibited, students shared ideas and voted to select excellent projects themselves. Ahn Hee-myung, headmaster of Daedeok Software Meister High School, said, "In order to enhance students’ project-solving skills, all students gathered together to carry out projects of their own choosing in groups, and through lively discussions and collaboration, it served as an opportunity to enhance problem-solving skills and creativity.”
